OUR MISSION STATEMENTTraditional Martial Arts teach Self-improvement along with practical application.I have found throughout my experiences in training in different areas of Martial Arts that they are all pretty similar philosophically. Like the fingers on your hand, they are all different, but they are all still fingers. Or it can be regarded as - the same Church but a different pew There is no style that is complete, just as there is no one person who is complete in his or her own self. What one style may lack in technique, another one is proficient in. What one of us may lack technically, can be balanced with spirit and knowledge. Hence, we blend the best. The two greatest tragedies of Martial Arts are:
Our curriculum is a blend, from Tang Soo Do (Korean karate), Wing Chun (Chinese), Okinawin (karate do) and Kyusho Jitsu (pressure point) For adult students we teach techniques and philosophies that have been lost or held back in many styles. What we call "the Science of Martial arts.Even if an adult student that has trained for only a few months, they are taught how to protect/defend themselves. Maybe not technically, but with a "mind set" of "what not to do and what would be coming next" and taking steps to control the outcome of that event in their favor. Our children's programs teaches basic martial arts with an emphasis on Respect (to parents, teacher, authority figures), Self confidence, Co ordination. Our children's program does not encourage violence but non evasive conflict resolution. They also recieve instruction on Stranger Danger and the D.A.R.E program
We are providing a friendly and professional atmosphere with a curriculum that meets most individual needs. New Students are warmly welcomed and quickly become part of the Family. We give our Students the opportunity to become the best they can be. We use traditional training methods (a formal atmosphere for the most part Once a student, senior or junior status steps into the Do-Jang (classroom) they are referred to as Mr. or Mrs. or "yes, Sir", "yes, Maam". In some styles you must achieve black belt status for this to happen. Everyone here is treated with the etiquette like they are black belts, although they may have not achieved it yet. In the classroom (Do-Jang or Dojo), where you practice physical self defense, you must also have the manners or etiquette to be respectful to others with your behavior. This is the blend, the balance I believe everyone begins Martial Arts for self-defense. Next comes competition... with yourself - and maybe against others (tournaments). Finally comes perfection... perfection of technique and perfection of one's inner self. Although we can never truly reach perfection in this world, it can only be approximated. So, we continuously strive towards being the best person we can be. I invite you to join us. I have taken the best of all my teachings and Martial Art experiences to pass it on to You. |
